Hiking Beneath the Eiger: A Swiss Alps Adventure Weekend

From the moment you settle into Interlaken, you feel the excitement of being surrounded by two lakes and framed by soaring alpine peaks. With quick, effortless rail links into the mountains, Interlaken becomes your ideal base for a long weekend centred on mountain walking, fresh air and unforgettable high‑alpine trails. This short break lets you dive into iconic Swiss scenery without taking a full week away—just three nights of energising time exploring the dramatic landscapes above the Bernese Oberland.

On Friday afternoon, depending on your arrival time at the hotel, you travel up to the village of First for an optional warm‑up walk. You follow a beautifully crafted mountain path towards Bachalpsee, where the still water reflects the surrounding peaks like a perfect mirror. The cliff walk at First adds a touch of exhilaration as you step onto its airy walkway, rewarded with sweeping views across the valley. It’s a wonderful introduction to the terrain, the altitude and the atmosphere waiting for you over the coming days.

The next morning you begin high at Eigergletscher, with rugged rock and astonishing views from the very first steps. As you descend along the trail toward Alpiglen and Brandegg, you wander past waterfalls, rocky zigzags and traditional wooden farmhouses. Cowbells echo across the meadows as you continue down into Grindelwald, finishing with that satisfying, well‑earned feeling that only a full mountain hike can deliver—before returning smoothly to Interlaken for a relaxing evening.

Your final day takes you once again to First, then onward to Faulhorn, a classic high point on the ridge. Perched in a spectacular position above the valleys, Faulhorn offers broad horizons, open skies and a true sense of alpine stillness. From Bachalpsee to Bussalp and onward to Bort, each section reveals views that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.
