Our home in the Lake District — Hassness Country House

Nestled on the shores of Buttermere in the heart of the Lake District, Hassness Country House is our own base in Britain's most beloved walking landscape. Stay with us here and you'll have everything taken care of — expert-led walks from the door each day, hearty meals to come home to, and a small group of fellow walkers to share it all with. Our local guides bring the landscape to life around you — as Emma, one of our Lake District leaders, puts it: "I love showing visitors the hidden tarns and telling stories about Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter that you won't find in guidebooks." That kind of knowledge is what turns a good walk into something you'll never forget.

Solo Walking Holidays UK — Walk with Like-Minded People

Many of our guests travel alone, finding our small group holidays the perfect way to explore the UK while meeting fellow walking enthusiasts. There's no single supplement on many tours, making solo walking holidays accessible and affordable. You'll quickly find camaraderie on the trail, with the option for companionship or solitude as your mood dictates.
