This carefully designed two-week holiday combines the highlights of Tenerife and Lanzarote, offering a rewarding exploration of two of the Canary Islands’ most distinctive destinations. With one walking grade (6) on Tenerife and a choice of two walking grades (4 & 6) in Lanzarote, accompanied by experienced walk leaders and knowledgeable local guides, you can enjoy the islands at a pace that suits you while gaining a deeper understanding of their landscapes, wildlife and culture.
Your adventure begins on Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands and a place of remarkable contrasts. Staying in the historic city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you'll discover elegant colonial architecture, lively plazas and a rich cultural heritage. Walks explore the dramatic Anaga Peninsula, where ancient laurel forests cloak rugged mountains and deep ravines plunge towards the Atlantic Ocean. You'll also experience the extraordinary volcanic scenery of Mount Teide National Park, ascending by cable car to enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the island and, on clear days, neighbouring islands beyond.
Although Tenerife is one of the Canaries’ most popular destinations, many of your walks follow quieter trails that reveal its wilder side. Volcanic ridges, remote valleys and centuries-old paths offer an authentic encounter with the island's natural beauty, enhanced by the expertise of local guides who bring its history, geology and traditions vividly to life.
A short inter-island flight then takes you to Lanzarote, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve renowned for its striking volcanic landscapes. Here, vast lava fields, dramatic craters and black-sand beaches create a remarkable backdrop for walking. Explore charming whitewashed villages, visit Haría, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Palms”, and follow historic routes to the former capital, Teguise. In Timanfaya National Park, discover an almost lunar landscape shaped by powerful volcanic eruptions, while local guides provide fascinating insight into the island's unique ecology and culture.
Together, Tenerife and Lanzarote offer an exceptional combination of scenery, heritage and year-round sunshine, creating an unforgettable Canary Islands walking holiday.
