This holiday is a great combination of our 9-night La Gomera and our popular 7-night Tenerife holidays.

Our first nine nights will be spent discovering the wild landscapes, dramatic scenery, deserted beaches and sleepy mountain villages of La Gomera in the best possible way – on foot. 


La Gomera

A tranquil haven away from bustling tourist hubs, La Gomera, accessible only by ferry, unveils a pristine natural beauty that time seems to have forgotten.

La Gomera's landscape may initially appear sparse when arriving by ferry from Los Cristianos in Tenerife. But the island quickly reveals its treasures: traditional whitewashed villages, impressive mountains, dense pine forests, and awe-inspiring cliffs. Unique wildlife enhances La Gomera’s charm, offering a delightful experience for those keen to explore.

Acting as your island base, Valle Gran Rey is a scenic coastal spot just an hour from the island’s capital, San Sebastian. Nestled along the seafront, your hotel offers easy access to the beach and the UNESCO-listed Garajonay National Park. Short bus trips take you to stunning walking trails, revealing the island’s lush valleys and coastal vistas. Follow paths alongside mountain streams, through fertile valleys rich with greenery, and take in breathtaking tropical mountain views. Trek across volcanic peaks for unrivalled panoramas of La Gomera.


Tenerife

Your holiday begins and ends with a comfortable stay in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Transfer days between islands incorporate well-planned ferry schedules, allowing time for additional walks and maximising hiking opportunities.

Please note that some walks may be a little more challenging if the weather is inclement.

After our one-night stay back in Tenerife in Costa Adeje, we have a transfer up to the far North of Tenerife, a captivating island of contrasts! Your base in San Cristobal de la Laguna offers exploration on foot, revealing the island's architectural gems, including the impressive cathedral. Venture beyond to the rugged Anaga Peninsula, where sheer ridges and green mountains boast breathtaking sea views.

One of the trip’s highlights is the cable car ascent up Mount Teide Volcano, where the Pico Viejo viewpoint offers unmatched panoramic vistas. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing day exploring the lower slopes and the renowned Roques de Garcia.

Select between our Grade 4 and Grade 6 walks, allowing for exploration at your preferred pace.

While Tenerife is a popular destination, these routes guide you to hidden trails that reveal the island’s past, shaped by Mount Teide’s volcanic activity. This rugged landscape brings a distinctive character to every step of your journey.

Our holiday walking grades

Moderate

Grade 4

Usually, your walk will take up the whole day at a moderate pace. Terrain will often be hilly and paths generally good. Note that on holidays in mountainous areas, expect some rougher paths. An average walk length is 6 miles but expect this to vary from as little as 3 miles on a sightseeing day and up to 10 miles on a full day dependant on the amount of ascent and decent required.

Grade 5

Trips comprise of day walks with plenty of ups and downs, some steep and rough ground will be encountered at times and walks averaging 7 miles with 650m of ascent / descent. Some holidays will cover longer distances on easier paths, others will be shorter walks but have more demanding ascents and terrain.

Grade 6

Full day walks with appreciable amounts of ascent and descent and longer distances covered.  Whilst you will be mainly on paths, these may be rough, steep, and loose at times. We take the whole day to enjoy some fabulous walks.
