This holiday combines our 9-night La Gomera walking holiday with our popular 7-night Tenerife programme, creating a memorable island-hopping adventure that showcases two of the Canary Islands’ most spectacular destinations.
Spend your first nine nights discovering the unspoilt beauty of La Gomera, exploring its dramatic landscapes, peaceful villages and spectacular coastal scenery on foot. Reached only by ferry, this tranquil island feels a world away from the busy tourist resorts of the Canaries. What may at first appear to be a rugged and barren landscape soon reveals an island rich in natural beauty, with deep ravines, towering cliffs, dense forests and traditional whitewashed settlements. Throughout your stay, a knowledgeable local guide joins every walk, sharing insight into the island’s history, culture, wildlife and unique way of life while helping you uncover places that many visitors never see.
Based in the charming coastal town of Valle Gran Rey, you'll be perfectly placed to explore both the coastline and the island’s mountainous interior. Walk through fertile valleys lined with palms and native vegetation, follow trails beside mountain streams, and discover the lush landscapes of the UNESCO-listed Garajonay National Park. Higher routes lead across volcanic ridges and mountain peaks, rewarding your efforts with breathtaking panoramic views across the island and out towards neighbouring Tenerife.
Your first week ends in Tenerife, with carefully planned transfer days that make the most of your time and include opportunities for additional walking. Following an overnight stay in Costa Adeje, travel to the historic city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, where colourful architecture and rich heritage provide a fascinating contrast to the island’s dramatic natural scenery. Accompanied by a local guide on every walk, explore the rugged Anaga Peninsula, renowned for its steep ridges, ancient laurel forests and magnificent coastal views.
A highlight of the holiday is the cable car ascent of Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak. From the Pico Viejo viewpoint, enjoy unforgettable views across volcanic landscapes before exploring the remarkable rock formations of Roques de García. With a choice of Grade 4 or Grade 6 walks, you can enjoy this extraordinary journey at a pace that suits you, discovering hidden trails, stunning scenery and authentic island life every step of the way.
