This trip offers an immersive journey through some of Greece’s most captivating islands and historic sites, blending cultural discovery, scenic walks, and moments of relaxation. Beginning in Athens, we travel to the island of Aegina, where we explore its charming town, ancient temples, and picturesque olive groves, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of May Day celebrations. From Aegina, we visit Poros and Hydra, walking along coastal paths, through scenic inland trails, and past traditional villages and ancient ruins, with opportunities for swimming and refreshments at secluded beaches. Highlights include the Temple of Poseidon, the abandoned village of Episkopi, the Palamidi Fortress in Nafplion, and the ancient theatre at Epidaurus, as well as charming town strolls and visits to local museums, galleries, and handicraft shops. Along the way, we experience the rich history of the Greek War of Independence, visit monasteries and chapels, and enjoy the beauty of the islands’ landscapes, from steep hillsides to serene bays.
