Accommodation

Accommodation information

Below is the accommodation featured on this holiday across all departure dates. Please refer to the Itinerary for more detail about each night's accommodation for each departure date.

El Andalouse Hotel

Featuring a spa with hammam and fitness centre, this 4-star hotel is located in the Hivernage residential area. It offers a shaded terrace by the swimming pool in the garden. The air-conditioned guest rooms feature a balcony and a Moorish-style décor. Each room and suite is equipped with an LCD TV with satellite channels and a telephone. Some rooms feature a private spa bath and a seating area. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Hotel Les Jardins or similar

We plan to use the following accommodation or similar.

The Hotel Les Jardins is a short walk from the centre of Ouarzazate. It offers colourful rooms and a down-to-earth ambiance with an informal restaurant, a garden & an outdoor pool.

La Caravane Desert Camp or similar

We plan to use the following accommodation or similar.

Staying at  desert camp is a quintessential Moroccan expereince. La Caravanne is a great example of the genre. We stay in permanent tents, in twins or singles as preferred. Beds are camp bed style, so we are not sleeping on the ground. Sheets and blankets are supplied. Remember although days are hot it gets very cold in the desert at night so you will need the blankets provided. Please pack accordingly to cope with desert nights. The toilet and shower block are separate so you will need a torch at nights. Dinner will be served al fresco under the stars.

The desert offers a fine ‘dark sky’ environment so hopefully we will enjoy a stunning night sky. Binoculars can be useful in spotting less obvious stars.

Hotel Kasbah Amazir or similar

We plan to use the following accommodation or similar.

Located in an oasis of palm trees close by the Todra Gorge the Hotel Kasbah Amazir offers a swimming pool, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Each room is air conditioned with en suite bathroom and hairdryer. The hotel has  a restaurant offering breakfast and dinner. For dinner, you can dine on a wide choice of Moroccan dishes on the terrace with panoramic views of the palm trees.

Hotel La Rose du Sable or similar

We plan to use the following accommodation or similar.

Located just outside the Kasbah the Hotel La Rose du Sable features a terrace and pool. Free WiFi is offered but may not be accessible from all rooms. Breakfast is served buffet style.

Walks & Excursions

Local Transport Costs

In the holiday cost, we have included all local transport expenses related to the advertised activity programme for your convenience. If there are additional visits or excursions to enrich your experience, you can choose to participate and cover the costs locally. Depending on the itinerary, local transport may involve a mix of private hire coaches, taxis, local buses, and ferries.

Optional Excursions

At your destination, you may have the option to book various local excursions and activities through a local operator. It's important to note that we are not involved in these activities or excursions, and we do not operate, supervise, or control them in any way. Your contract will be directly with the local activity supplier, and we bear no responsibility for their actions or omissions.

Spending Money

Holiday Budgeting

As you plan your holiday budget, it's essential to account for expenses such as drinks, meals not covered in the holiday price, entrance fees not included, optional local excursions, and any souvenirs or additional services like laundry. For a rough estimate, budgeting around £10-£20 per person per day for lunches and drinks is a helpful guideline.

Currency in Morocco

The currency in Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham. Please note that it is not possible to change Scottish or Irish banknotes in Morocco. If changing sterling banknotes at banks or currency exchange points in Morocco these should be in pristine condition; banknotes which are torn, crumpled or have writing on them will not be accepted.

Tipping

As you are probably already aware, tipping or “backsheesh” is a way of life in north Africa. In order to take the hassle out of tipping, we strongly recommend that you allow your leader to take care of making sure tips are given to hotel and restaurant staff & to local guides and drivers. This will be done using some funds provided by Ramble Worldwide plus a contribution from you, which your leader will collect during the holiday. We suggest an amount of £2-£3 per person per day, although this is discretional.

Tour Leaders & Local Guides

Tour Leaders

Your tour leader plays a crucial role in enhancing your holiday experience, and they share your passion for exploring the world on foot. In addition to being resourceful and organised they are also well-travelled and deeply enthusiastic about showing you new destinations.  Your tour leader takes care of all the local administration, ensuring you can fully enjoy your holiday without worrying about the logistics. While leading group holidays, they always keep in mind that each group is composed of individuals. Each tour leader brings their unique style, talents, and professional background to the table. Rest assured, they are all trained, qualified, experienced, and dedicated to making your holiday as enjoyable, interesting, and inspiring as possible. Remember, your leader, while on holiday, is your first port of call for any issues, ensuring a smooth and worry-free experience for you.

Leader's Evening Briefing

Each evening, your tour leader will meet with you to review the programme for the next day. This is your chance to discuss details and ensure that the planned activities align with your walking ability. If you have any concerns about clothing or equipment, feel free to bring them up during this discussion. If, for any reason, you prefer not to participate in the organised group programme, please inform your leader. Your preferences are important, and your leader is there to make sure your experience aligns with your expectations.
