Explore two of the Canary Islands in two weeks, giving you the chance to discover why these islands are so popular for walking.
What does this mean?
Overview
This holiday is a combination of our two one week holidays Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.
We begin our fortnight by heading to Lanzarote's volcanic wonderland, renowned for its natural richness and exclusive wildlife. Beyond the famed volcanic cones and sandy beaches, you'll find a haven for walkers, featuring palm groves, vineyards, white-washed villages, and captivating mountain vistas. This northernmost Canary Island, a UNESCO Biosphere reserve, safeguards over 40% of its terrain for exceptional biodiversity, showcasing endemic plants, volcanic tubes, salt marshes, and untouched beaches.
Starting from Haria, the Valley of a Thousand Palms, follow ancient trading paths to Teguise, the island's former capital, boasting panoramic views of La Graciosa and surrounding islets. Traverse the Timanfaya National Park, a mesmerizing expanse of ancient lava fields encircled by towering volcanic cones. Wander through lush palm groves and vineyards, breathing in the crisp mountain air along the way.
Your base in Arrecife, the island's capital, provides convenient access to explore the diverse landscapes. With a rugged coastline, deserted sandy beaches, and welcoming rural villages, every walk concludes with a tranquil spot to savour the scenery. With temperatures rarely dipping below 20°C, the island offers an idyllic setting for you to unwind.
For our second week you have the chance to walk a continent in just a week on Gran Canaria, a volcanic gem off the African coast known as 'the miniature continent.' Immerse yourself in the high mountain range of the central Cumbre, relishing panoramic views over plains, where hidden cave villages adorn the rocky terrain, preserving a timeless allure.
Venture down the slopes to discover lush valleys and whitewashed rural villages along the Caminos Reales, ancient pathways echoing the island's Spanish colonial past. Bask in the warmth of the sun, meander through alpine meadows, and seek solace in majestic pine forests nestled within sub-tropical valleys.
Your base is the historic port capital, Las Palmas, once frequented by Christopher Columbus. Explore the old quarters of Vegueta and Triana, steeped in multicultural influences from centuries of diverse visitors. The vibrant cityscape is complemented by modern amenities, ensuring a perfect blend of history and contemporary comforts.
Join us for a walking adventure that captures the essence of Gran Canarias' natural beauty, cultural richness, and festive cheer. This week-long exploration promises you am invigorating escape, where every step unveils a new facet of the island's captivating charm.
