Overview

Holiday Highlights

  • A local walking guide on each grade, offering authentic local insight.
  • Whilst on Lanzarote there is simply so much choice for an avid rambler, especially with two grades of walking on offer!
  • Explore a volcanic wonderland on these naturally rich islands.
  • Explore Timanfaya Natural Park, descending through ancient lava fields amid towering volcanic cones, Lanzarote.
  • Traverse Fuerteventura's spine, experiencing a dramatic coast-to-coast journey of breath-taking landscapes.
  • Explore Betancuria, the Atlantic's oldest settlement, unveiling centuries of history and charm.
  • Embark on a ferry to the pristine Isla de Lobos for serene walks and refreshing swims.
  • Take time to appreciate the unique geography of the Canary Islands.

The least developed of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura has largely escaped the extensive coastal development seen elsewhere in the archipelago, retaining a sense of space and authenticity. Bathed in year-round sunshine with an average temperature of around 20°C, it offers an equable, dry climate ideal for walking holidays. Accompanied by knowledgeable local guides on every walk, you’ll explore coastal trails, rolling hills and vast, remote beaches, gaining a deeper understanding of the island’s landscapes and traditions.

Geologically captivating and shaped by rare rainfall, Fuerteventura’s volcanic terrain creates an almost otherworldly atmosphere. The red rocks of the interior evoke an alien landscape, while ancient volcanoes, dry steppes and undulating sandy hills reveal the island’s dramatic past. Traditional villages, home to some of the oldest churches in the Canaries, reflect a relaxed and welcoming way of life.

As its network of marked paths grows, Fuerteventura is becoming increasingly popular for walking. Routes lead through the island’s heart to Betancuria, the Atlantic’s first European settlement, while a memorable traverse from Costa Calma crosses the island’s spine from coast to coast. From Corralejo, a short ferry takes you to Isla de Lobos, where a guided circumnavigation offers sweeping ocean views, while in the south, the remote beauty of Cofete beach provides a spectacular highlight.

After a week of exploration, travel to Lanzarote, where local guides continue to bring each walk to life. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve showcases volcanic cones, lava fields, vineyards and whitewashed villages. From Haría’s palm-filled valley to the dramatic landscapes of Timanfaya National Park, every walk reveals a striking contrast of scenery.

Explore rugged coastlines, quiet beaches and rural villages, with each day ending in a tranquil setting. With warm, year-round temperatures and the insight of expert local guides, this two-island journey offers an unforgettable walking experience.
