Janet and Terence Debourg were walking in the footsteps of ancients when they tackled The Lycian Way, Turkey’s long-distance footpath. They found it a great way to explore the Mediterranean coast and mountains and historic sites.
We just wanted to say what a wonderful holiday we had in Turkey. The whole tour was amazing, with something different to experience every day. We had a wonderful tour leader in Malcolm, and the equally brilliant Baz, our Turkish guide. The coach driver was also an asset, helping us with lots of things, not just picking us up from the end of a walk. The weather was just right and the hotel accommodation was good.

The daily walks and tours were all very interesting. We had a wonderful boat trip to see the sunken city of Simena at Kekova Island and a lovely barbecue on the boat, with some time to sunbathe and have a beer.

We also had a trip to the ancient site at Myra where St Nicholas (Santa Claus) was born, and we saw the St Nicholas Basilica. Some walks included a lunchtime visit to local Turkish families who cooked quite basic but fresh and tasty food, and we sat on the floor to enjoy the freshly prepared food.

The walking holiday provided a wealth of knowledge of Turkey and all the historical sites we visited. It was amazing and we both would definitely visit again. Well done, Ramble Worldwide!
