Overview

Holiday Highlights

  • Tackle walks reaching scenic viewpoints like the Wetterkreuz ridge, with dramatic limestone cliffs and panoramic mountain scenery.
  • Each day offers a choice of longer or shorter routes, suited to different fitness levels.
  • Enjoy a mix of hiking routes like the Naßfeldtal and Naturschauweg paths, which combine natural landscapes with glimpses of old gold‑mining heritage.
  • Use gondolas to access higher start points, and explore alpine meadows and dramatic ridges with reduced ascent effort.

If you are looking at this one week holiday why not make your stay two weeks by joining us on Salzburgerland Alps.

You'll discover hidden gem Bad Hofgastein, a small spa town nestled in the heart of the Austrian Alps. Despite its lesser-known status, it shines as a star in the Alpine landscape, offering a comprehensive Alpine experience. A well-marked network of paths both above and below the tree line, coupled with efficient mountain rail, cableways, and a Post Bus network, allows you to explore the diverse mountainous terrain.

Walks take you to high peaks, remote lakes and meadows flush with wild flowers where you can capture towering snow-covered and glacier-adorned alpine summits. Lower down you can explore the forests and pastures and catch glimpses of Gastein’s gold mining past and the thermal springs that attracted royalty and celebrities in the 19th century, and still charm visitors today.

Bad Hofgastein is located at the confluence of several valleys, offering a plethora of diverse walks. Several of the walks take you along the ‘Salzburger Almenweg’, a long distance trail linking picturesque alpine farms where local cheeses and hams are produced. Peaks well over 2000m, such as the Hüttenkogel, can be reached as well as panorama paths and impossibly picturesque mountain lakes. As the day concludes, you return to the spa resort of Bad Hofgastein, boasting a vast spa complex with pools and green areas, a perfect haven for relaxation.
